Matthew Buchanan
Bio

Matthew Buchanan is an emerging acoustic artist with music that is a mix of folk, folk-rock, alternative, and blues mixed with a hip groove. He began singing at a young age, later performing in high school bands as a vocalist, and at 15 years old had already performed alongside professionals at the 1985 "Rock For Light" festival on the Washington Monument in D.C.. At the age of twenty  he took up the electric guitar, but later pawned his electric rig for a simple acoustic guitar after being exposed to folk music. A lifelong love for nature and all things natural would help serve to solidify his love for the sounds emerging from the wood, later confessing that, "He was hooked". His influences include Bob Dylan, John Prine, Aztec Two Step, Pink Floyd, and Neil Young. (As well as a host of others too long to list)
In 2005 he began writing music for his debut release "Spaceship Ride" .  The Cd was recorded in the back bedroom of a mobile home, a fact which he is proud of, strangely. The cuts on the Cd range from a Pink Floydish vibe, right down to some earthy folk, and even some pretty nifty world percussion. (Djembe, Dumbek etc.) In fact, he played every part on the whole disc!
Matthew's live shows are an earthy-groove mix of originals and cover tunes with alot of folk and classic rock thrown in the mix. His interpretations of some of the classics are simply stunning and original to the core. There is no doubt that the road only gets better from here for this emerging artist. Don't hesitate to book a true modern poet with a fresh slant on the Americana vibe. Booking inquiries should be e-mailed to info@matthewbuchanan.com .
